[Disclaimer - This photo (along with a bunch of others) is from a roll of film that included some home-renovation stuff and a trip to San Fransisco....along with a few pictures of the kids. Although most of the pictures on this roll were taken more than a year before the kids were born, there were some pictures of the kids on that roll, so I posted it anyway. And I left the house-stuff and the San-Fran-stuff in the mix just to give you more of a documentary-feel for our lives. I make no apologies.]
We spent about 80% of our San Francisco vacation sitting in a bus or a subway car. Generally, by the time we finally got somewhere, we realized that we didn't have enough time to take public transit BACK to wherever it was that we wanted to be next. On one occasion, we arrived at our chosen restaurant, sat down to eat, and realized that if we were going to make it to the theatre in time for the evening's entertainment, we would have to get back on a bus RIGHT NOW. So we walked right out of the restaurant without so much as a sip of water. The chef followed us out into the street (it was a tiny, personable French restaurant) and asked us why we didn't want to stay. It was very embarrasing.
Anyhow, in this picutre we're leaving the Golden Gate Bridge. Apparantly, it closes at sunset. We spent like 20 minutes there.
The moral of the story: if you're going to San Francisco, RENT A CAR.
